INSI Waterjet has over 2 years of experience in the manufacture of high quality precision cut components for a diverse range of industries.
INSI Waterjet offer a full CAD/CAM supported service whereby we are able to reproduce dimensional drawings, digitise templates or import files via e mail such as dxf or dwg. In addition the Waterjet Cutting Process is environmentally friendly as there are no gases used or fumes produced during cutting. With our sister company, INSI Precision we are able to offer an unique and integrated service to our customers offering second operation facilities within the same company. Water jetting is an innovative alternative to the traditional plasma and laser manufacturing and machining approach. This heatless method of production utilises a combination of ultra-pressured water, a supersonic velocity of nearly Mach-3 at the nozzles, and an abrasive, hard rock garnet in creating any necessary parts. With our sister company, INSI Precision we are able to offer an unique and intergrated service to our customers offering second operation facilities within the same site. Why Water Jet? Because Water Jet Cutting enables you to design and cut an endless amount of materials in ways you never thought would be possible, and that are simply not possible by other forms of cutting. Waterjet cutting has many advantages over conventional laser, plasma or torch cutting systems which change the structure of the material.
Capacity:
INSI Waterjet operates a twin headed Calypso water/abrasive cutting machine which can cut components up to 3m x 1.5m x 250mm thick to a tolerance of 0.15mm, depending upon material thickness. Technology: Abrasive Water Jet Cutting
Our waterjet cutting machine is capable of cutting an extensive range of materials up to a thickness of approximately 250 mm (depending on the quality and composition of the specific material). Materials include:
Many materials, such as stone, porcelain and ceramic tiles, cannot be cut economically into complex shapes by any other method. If you require a material to be cut that is not listed here, contact our technical services team for advice and guidance.

Cutting with Water Jets can cut through metals up to 150mm thick. This is done by propelling water up to 2000mph through rigid, high pressure hoses and jets at a pressure of up to 60,000PSI, these jets can contain abrasive substances, such as garnet which erode away the material. Jet cutters have no problem slicing though Stainless Steel, Titanium, Tool Steel or even Armour Plating. Water cutting is typically used for cutting, excision or ablation (removing parts); structuring and can lend it to cutting items with sandwich structures or have a combination of materials. Below is an example of the excellent lines that can be created through the use of water jet cutting:
Soft Material Cutting
Ceramic & Stone Cutting
Benefits:
Waterjet cutting delivers a range of benefits over other cutting methods and technologies, including:
Applications: Industry Sectors:
Waterjet cutting often compliments other technologies such as milling, laser cutting, plasma cutting, electrical discharge machining (EDM) and routing. Laser cutting and precision engineering companies often use waterjet cutting services as a compliment to their services. |
